Explanation of name:   For Annona, see Annona glabra.  Diversifolia means diverse-leaved.

Natural range:   Mesoamerica

Recognition:  Small tree often branched near the base.  Flowers maroon.  Usually with a conspicuous pinkish or purplish tinge to the fruit (or green). ‘Imery’ with pink flesh is historically the main cultivar in Florida.

Landscape uses:   Fruiting tree.  Prefers wet season followed by dry season.  Bears fruit in 3-5 years.  Often grafted onto Pond Apple or Custard-Apple.  Seeds are reportedly tough to germinate,  and are toxic.
