Explanation of name: Generic name commemorates Prof. Fr. Allamand of Leyden (BA1). Species name commemorates naturalist Arthur Schott.

Synonym: Allamanda neriifolia Hook. f. (http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=ALSC4)

Natural range: Mexico

Recognition: Lax shrub with large bright yellow flowers. Smaller, shrubbier, and less vinelike than A. cathartica, and having the flowers deeper-colored with red streaking (vs. white streaking).

Landscape uses: Sun-loving, bright-flowered shrub.  More shrubby and compact than A. cathartica.
