Explanation of name: Ochrosia means pale yellow (flower color) (DEH). Elliptica is self-explanatory.

Natural range: Australia and Tropical Pacific

Recognition: Slightly succulent shrub or small tree with large, whorled, elliptic, shiny leaves (reminiscent and related to Frangipani)

Landscape uses: Flowers in summer and fall, white and fragrant but not particularly showy. Fruits the size of elongated golf balls, bright red, toxic. Valued for tolerance of seaside conditions. Escaped from cultivation and not recommended for Florida landscaping.
