Explanation of name: The genus commemorates Scottish botanist William Wright (1735-1819). The specific epithet refers to the plant's medicinal history.

Taxonomic note: Related to and originally placed in Nerium

Natural range: Sri Lanka

Recognition: Small shrub with opposite leaves, having 1" pure white flowers, these with a conspicuous corona around the throat where a yellow cone comprised of the stamens is visible.

Landscape uses: Compact shrub, used in limited spaces, including containers and indoors. Flowers all year.
