Aquifoliaceae

Explanation of name: For Ilex, see Ilex cassineCornuta means horned.

Natural range: This is a cultivar.

Recognition: Small conical or rounded or vase-shaped tree or large shrub with usually multiple stems and with extremely dark green, glossy leaves having a point at the tip, and occasionally small points along the edges, the leaf blades convex. Separate male not needed for berry production. For comparison with the closely related ‘Nellie R. Stevens’ see the follwing entry.
