Explanation
of name:
Podranea is an anagram of Pandorea (see below). Specific epithet
commemorates Italian Baron Ricasoli (BA1). Note spelling, ricasoliana,
NOT ricosoliana.

Recognition:
Robust woody vine with opposite compound leaves and bilaterally symmetrical,
tubular, showy flowers light pink striped with red.
Confusingly similar to Pandorea jasminoides Schum., which differs by
having the fruits short and oblong, and the calyx nearly absent and not puffy.
Podranea, by contrast, has linear fruits and inflated calyx. (BA1)
