Boraginaceae

Borage Family

A family of some 100 genera and 2000 species of herbs, shrubs, and trees usually having alternate, simple leaves, the blades frequently rough. The flowers usually radially symmetrical, often in one-sided cymes, the petals fused into a 5-pointed, funnel-shaped tube. Fruit often 4-parted. Heliotropes and Geigers belong to this family.
