Central America
Recognition:
Leafy and bristly cactus with large, showy, roselike red or pale violet
flowers. Barbados Gooseberry, Pereskia aculeata Mill., is a vining
species with smaller yellow-green flowers.
Landscape

A specimen or novelty plant with very showy flowers and dark green glossy
foliage. This species fares well in partial shade.
