A worldwide family of about 52 genera and 800 species of woody
plants, usually shrubs or small trees, or vines.
Flowers small, round, usually white, the stamens alternating with the
petals. Flowers with a
characteristic nectar disc to the inside of the stamens (data mostly from SMI).
This is the family of Bittersweet.
