Explanation
of name:
Generic name comes from Greek callos for beauty. Fragrans means
fragrant.
Natural
range:
Mesoamerica
Recognition:
An aggressive, spreading, strongly stoloniferous groundcover where each rosette,
standing up to about a foot tall, resembles a Bromeliad. Small white flowers
rising from the rosettes on arching wands.
Landscape
uses:
An effective, forgiving, space-filling groundcover. This is the perfect formula
for an invasive exotic species. This one is listed as Category II by the
Florida Exotic Pest
Plant Council. Not recommended.
