Explanation of name: For Tradescantia, see T. pallida. Zebrina refers to the striped leaves.

Synonym: Zebrina pendula W. Schnizl.

Natural range: Tropical America, escaped in Florida (WU1)

Recognition: Semi-succulent creeping plant with elliptic or lanceolate leaves green-white striped on top and purplish below

Landscape uses: Popular in hanging baskets, and sometimes used as a ground cover (difficult to achieve thick coverage). Escaped from cultivation (WU1). Presumed skin irritant.
