Explanation of name:
Evolvulus is a corruption of Convolvulus and means unroll, as a
reflection of this plant’s tendency not to climb by twisting like most other
Colvolvulaceae. Glomeratus means clumping.
Natural range:
South America
Recognition:
Low mounding shrub or ground cover with sky blue, flaring, trumpet shaped
flowers about an inch across. Leaves elliptic, about an inch long, pubescent.
Landscape uses:
A clump-former and flowering ground cover for sunny, well drained areas. Useful
in hanging baskets. The flowers are open morning to afternoon one day only. This
species has escaped cultivation in the Keys (WU2).
