Persimmon/Ebony Family

The Ebenaceae are a small family of about 6 genera and 30
species mostly in warm climates.
The wood is exceptionally hard. The alternate leaves have no stipules.
Flowers dioecious or with bisexual and unisexual flowers mixed on
individual plants. Corolla forming a lobed round tube.
Ovary superior, with variable number of carpels, the styles separate at
least above the base. (Data largely
