Explanation of name: Acalypha is an ancient name for nettles, which have similar leaves (DEH). Pendula means dangling.

Natural range: Cuba

Recognition: Distinctive red “cat tail” inflorescence on small prostrate or nearly prostrate ground cover

Landscape Uses: Groundcovers, hanging baskets, rock gardens, and containers.  Although used as a groundcover, too delicate and  not trustworthy for large-scale coverage
