you-FORB-ee-ah marge-ah-NAT-tah

Euphorbiaceae

Explanation of name:  Generic name refers to Euphorbas, Greek physician.  Marginata refers to the variegated leaf margins.

Natural range: Western U.S.

Recognition:    White leaf margins at the top of the plant, white "flowers" cyathia, milky sap

Landscape Uses:  Mass for white-margined leaves and white "flowers" (cyathia).  Tough plant native to poor, dryish soils.  Over-watering and over-fertilizing detracts from floral display.  Generally used as an annual.
