Herbs and shrubs
found around the world but mostly in Australia, with one native Florida
species. Flowers usually bilaterally symmetrical and with the corolla slit.
Stamens 5, depositing pollen in a cup beneath the style. Ovary inferior. Fruit
often a drupe.
