Palm-Grass Family

A small,
variable, herbaceous family of maybe 7 genera and some 150 species, one of the
many satellite families surrounding the Liliaceae, and interpreted differently
by different taxonomists. Leaves grasslike or lilylike, more or less
strap-shaped, sometimes coarse. Flowers on a single stalk rising from the ground
(scape); as with most monocots, the flowers 3-parted, often yellow.
