Explanation of name: Ortho means straight and siphon means tube.  Aristate(us) means bristly. 

Synonym: Orthosiphon stamineus Benth. (www.hear.org/Pier/species/orthosiphon_aristatus.htm)

Natural range: Asia, Australia

Recognition:  Mint with showy white to lavender flowers having long whiskery protruding stamens

Lanscape uses:  Bedding plant, space-filler, perennial with showy flowers.  Flowers reliably, with broad tolerances.  Useful for flowers in semishade. Escapes cultivation.

Note: Sold as an herbal aid for weight loss
