Plectranthus parviflorus

Swedish-Ivy

Plectranthus parviflorus Willd.

plec-TRAN-thus aus-TRAY-lis

Lamiaceae

Synonym: Plectranthus australis R. Br. (WU3)

Explanation of name: Generic name from Greek, plectron, spur, and anthos, flower. Parviflorus means small-flowered.

Natural range: Australia

Recognition: Ivy-like mint with wavy leaves having scalloped margins. Flowers white.

Landscape uses: Primarily in containers, especially hanging baskets, best in partial shade (bright but indirect light). Water demands are medium, and reportedly fares best if allowed to dry somewhat between waterings. Sometimes used as a groundcover. Escaped from cultivation (WU2).
