Andreas Cesalpini (1519-1603) was an Italian botanist, philosopher, and
physician to Pope Clement VIII.(DEH) Pulcherrima means beautiful or
pretty.

Recognition:
Small tree.
Leaves bipinnate with
5-10 pinnae and 6-10 pairs of elliptic or obovate leaflets, ˝"-1" long. Flowers
orange-yellow or yellow turning red with age, long exerted stamens, ˝"-1" long.
Fruit an oblong flat legume, 2-1/2" to 4-1/2" long (DEH, ISE, HOR, UFEDUST107,
BA2)

A cultivar of Caesalpinia pulcherrima is sold as C. pulcherrima
