Explanation of name:  Generic name: ask your health teacher. Ternatea refers to the island Ternate in the Moluccas (BA1).

Natural range:  Depends on the species and cultivar.  See note below.

Recognition:  Lightweight vine with bright blue (or pinkish) flowers having the small wings and keel at the top of the flower, enveloped by a large spreading banner petal

Landscape uses:  Colorful vine.  Grown from seed or cuttings

Note: There are multiple species of Clitoria in cultivation and growing wild, native and introduced.
