Explanation of name: From dichrous, 2 colors, and stachy which refers to a spike of flowers (STE).   Ciner means ash colored.

Natural range: Africa and Asia (PBCC, ISE, BA2)

Recognition: Armed pubescent shrub with spurs terminating as thorns.  Leaves bipinnate with 6-14 pairs of pinnae and 16-22 pairs of oblong small leaflets.  Lower flowers yellowish green and fertile; upper flowers pinkish and sterile. Fruit oblong legume, contorted at maturity, to 4" long (ISE, BA2, PBCC)
