Dichrostachys
Armed,
pubescent shrub with spurs terminating as thorns. Leaves bipinnate; leafstalk
hirsutulous, with a stalked gland between lowermost leaflet pairs or between
several pairs; pinnae 6-12(14) pairs; leaflets 16-22 pairs; stipules not seen.
Inflorescence(s) axillary, solitary or clustered dangling spikes. Flowers
numerous, the upper fertile, yellowish, the lower sterile, pinkish, fading
white; calyx shallowly lobed; corolla lobed; androecium of 10 separate stamens.
Legume indehiscent, oblong, laterally compressed with undulate margins,
contorted at maturity. Seeds few to several. Native of Old World. (ISE)
