Explanation of name: From Greek,  erythros, red, referring to the the flowers. Herbacea means herbaceous.

Natural range: Southern US coastal areas (DEH, HOR, ISE)

Recognition: Perennial herb or shrub. Leaves trifoliate, deltoid. Flowers scarlet, tubular, to 2" long.  Fruit brown loment, 6" long, containing bright red seeds (DEH, HOR, ISE, BA2, WA1)
