Explanation
of name:
From the Greek word lysis which means opening and loma which means
margin, referring to the fruit. Sabicu refers to a hardwood tree from
Cuba (STE, AUS, PBCC).

range:
West Indies and Cuba (BA2, AUS)
Recognition:
Small to medium tree. Leaves bipinnate with 1 to 4 pairs of pinnae and 3 to 7
pairs of ovate leaflets. Flowers clustered in small, white fuzzy globes. Fruit
red brown, flat, oblong legume, 4"- 6" long (BA2, HOR, WU1)
