Explanation
of name:
From the Greek word pelte which means shield and phoreo which
means to bear, referring to the shape of the stigmata (DEH). Dubium
means uncharacteristic.
Natural
range:
Brazil (ISE, BA2)
Recognition:
Tree. Leaves bipinnately compound with 7-15 pairs pinnae, each consisting of 8
to 20 pairs of elliptic to oblong leaflets, 1/4" to 1/2" long. Flowers bright
yellow, 1" wide. Fruit oblong samaroid, 2"- 4" long ( ISE, BA2, HOR)
