A small,
warm climate, woody family of about 6 genera and 220 species (FNA). Leaves
simple, with large conical stipules wrapped round the bud. Flowers radially
symmetrical with separate tepals, these usually numerous, stamens separate and
numerous, and pistils separate and numerous on a long central axis.
