According
to HUX, a family of 116 genera and over 1500 herbs to trees, often with
star-shaped (stellate) hairs, mucilage, alternate and often-palmate leaves,
stipules, 5 separate sepals, 5 free or nearly free petals, and usually numerous
stamens united into a tube around the style. Carpels usually 5, often becoming a
loculicidal capsule.
