Explanation of name: Generic name from Greek for eu, well, and calyptra, lid, in reference to the woody lid on the fruit (BA1)

Synonym: Corymbia torelliana (F. Muell.) K. D. Hill & L.A.S. Johnson

Natural range: Australia

Recognition: Tree with smooth, often greenish patterned bark. Leaves alternate, very coarse. Plants with irritating hairs. Flowers white, round, having many stamens, in large showy inflorescences.

Landscape uses: A weedy tree not much used in South Florida landscaping any longer. Apparently planted years ago in substantial numbers, especially around Jupiter.
