Explanation of name:   The generic name means Passionflower.  Edulis means edible.

Natural range:   South America

Recognition:   Corona is purplish.  Fruit egg-sized, purplish or yellow, orange inside. Leaves glossy on top (vs. dull in similar P. incarnata). There are many cultivars and hybrids.

Landscape uses:  Edible fruit. Can become weedy. Requires support and pruning.
