of name:
Peperomia means pepperlike. Obtusifolia means obtuse leaf.
Natural
range:
Native to Florida, state-listed as Endangered
Recognition:
Groundcover with thick, broad leaves and flowers resembling rat’s tails. There

Landscape
uses:
Native groundcover for partially shaded, moist, protected places. See a
beautiful example at Pan’s Garden on Palm Beach. Propagate by cuttings.
