Explanation of name: Presumably from Antigone, daughter of King Oepidus, chained to a caverned rock. Leptopus means slender-stalked.

Natural range: Mexico

Recognition: Rampant weedy sprawling or climbing vine with bright pink flowers.

Landscape uses:  Showy rampant vine extremely tolerant of limey, alkaline conditions but an invasive exotic.
