A small mostly tropical family of about 20 genera and 100 species of questionable definition. Leaves usually alternate, usually without stipules (or these minute), pinnately compound. Flowers small, sepals and petals 3-5, having a 10-lobed disk; stamens 10, inserted on the disk.
