Dutch White Clover

abundance and distribution:
Naturalized in the United States.
Recognition: This dense
forming mat of creeping clover, to 1 foot long has alternate, tri-obcordate
leaves. On long petioles the white flowers sit, and as they age they have a pink
tinge. If you look at the leaves,
they form the symbol of a shamrock.
Potentially
confused species: This species differs
from other weeds having trifoliate leaflets by having a white chevron mark on
each serrate leaflet.
Other:
The Native Americans have used this as an herb in their medicinal
remedies to treat fevers.
